Kristen Tomlan is the Founder and CEO of DŌ, Cookie Dough Confections, the world’s first edible cookie dough confectionery. Her unique take on the formerly forbidden treat is a viral success and has inspired fans worldwide, including the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, and Chrissy Teigen, to eat cookie dough just how they crave it, straight out of the mixing bowl!

She started the nostalgic nationwide trend when she founded DŌ as an online business in 2014, shipping edible cookie dough to thousands of customers throughout the United States. In January 2017, Kristen opened the doors to her flagship cookie dough scoop shop experience and immediately captured the attention of customers that formed hours-long lines to try a taste of her creations, as well as leading publications including The New York Times, People magazine, O, The Oprah Magazine, and Food Network Magazine.

Since opening her shop in New York City’s Greenwich Village, she has opened a series of successful pop-ups in cities throughout the country, served over one million customers through in person and online, launched the first-ever edible cookie dough at-home baking mixes, and partnered with brands like Bloomingdales, KitchenAid, and Williams Sonoma.

Kristen was obsessed with baking - even before she could use the “real” oven :)

Kristen wasn’t always an entrepreneur demo-ing her confections on beloved shows like the TODAY show and The Chew, first, she was a dessert lover that grew up in St. Louis and later attended The University of Cincinnati’s School of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning (DAAP) to pursue her passion for design. She followed a successful career path as a brand strategy and design consultant for Lippincott, where she created innovative experiences for clients such as BMW, Kiehl’s, Delta, Samsung, and Walmart. She had begun plans to use this experience to open her dream cookie dough scoop shop when she was struck with a life-threatening allergic reaction (a condition called SJS/TENS) which required a 21-day stay in the ICU as she battled for her life. Through her difficult recovery she completed her business plan and founded the sweetest dessert experience the world has ever seen, an endeavor that landed her on the Zagat 30 Under 30 list, the cover of the New York Times, and the title of “New York’s Newest Dessert Queen” from People magazine.

Her first cookbook, Hello, Cookie Dough: 110 Doughlicious Confections to Eat, Bake, and Share debuted in October of 2019.

In her free time, Kristen enjoys cooking, working out, spending time with family & friends, traveling, exploring to find the best tacos, and sipping on the perfect margarita. Kristen sits on the culinary council of the Food Bank for New York City, actively participates in a number of events that support No Kid Hungry, serves dō to raise dough for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, and is intimately involved in a number of culinary programs at the Ronald McDonald House New York.

She’s on a mission to spread joy - one sweet bite at a time.

In May of 2020, Kristen gave birth to her first daughter, Edeline “Edie” Page Tomlan. Today, Kristen lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Chris, daughter, Edie and their rescue pup, Nelly.
